An assessment of the practical impact of insecticide resistance

GJ Shanahan and NA Roxburgh

In spite of widespread resistance of the sheep blowfly to organophosphorus insecticides, they are still widely relied upon in Austrialia. Hybrid-resistant blowfly larvae do not produce fly-strike as readily as pure-resistant larvae so more attention should be paid to the use of biological, rather than chemical, control, wherever possible.
