Food Standards Agency's research requirements The Food Standards
Agency has published a list of the areas in which it is currently looking to
commission research or survey projects. These include verocytotoxin-producing
Escherichia coli O157, microbiological risk management, organic
wastes and fresh produce, and meat hygiene with reference to microbiological

MRSA in practice Updated guidelines on how to deal with
methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in
practice are now available from the British Small Animal Veterinary
Association (BSAVA). The guidelines were prepared by the
BSAVA's Scientific Committee in collaboration with the University
of Liverpool, the Health Protection Agency and the Department of Health. The
guidelines have been published on the BSAVA/'s website at

VN Council nominations sought The RCVS is inviting
nominations for its Veterinary Nurses Council, to fill two places that will
become vacant in July. Nominees must be listed VNs, supported by
two proposers who must also be listed VNs. Further information and

Deer collisions update The National Deer-Vehicle Collisions
Project's website has been updated with maps of the distribution and frequency
of collisions between deer and vehicles, nationally and by region, between
2003 and 2005. Further updates to the site,
www.deercollisions.co.uk,
are expected once outstanding records for 2006 have been collated.
